Every year, the French Embassy in India along with French Universities / Institutions award scholarships totalling up to 10 crore Indian rupees to more than 500 meritorious young Indian graduates who pursue their higher education in France. Indian applicants with outstanding academic records have a number of funding options for their studies in France. Some of the scholarship programmes in France include The Charpak Scholarship Programme, Raman Charpak Fellowship (PhD), Eiffel Scholarship Program of Excellence, The Erasmus+ Mobility Scholarships for Foreign Students etc.

Part time Jobs:

All students in France, including the students enrolled in the first year of university as well as students enrolled in a language program, are eligible to work in France for a maximum of 964 hours in any given year provided, the university they are working for does not have any objection to the same and the student has a valid residency permit. The minimum hourly wage rate is set at €9.76 per hour (before taxes). After reducing the same, the student makes somewhere around €7.61 per hour. A student can also apply for and get employment at the university s/he is studying in or any other higher institute/ university. Students at a university are offered a contract for one year.

 

France Study Visa Requirements

  • Long stay application form for the duration of more than 90 days
  • Two passport size photographs
  • A copy of Passport
  • Letter of registration from the academic Institution
  • Cover letter explaining the study project and a CV/Resume
  • Proof of funds – tuition fees + a minimum of 615 Euros/month, for the complete academic term
  • Proof of medical insurance with coverage valid in France
  • Copy of your round-trip airline ticket (if you are studying for six months or less) or a one-way ticket if you are studying in France for more than six months)
  • OFII form (Office Francais de Immigration et de Integration)
  • Proof of residency in France such as a lease, electricity bill, title of property, etc. for a minimum of three months or a hotel reservation
  • Copy of the CV
  • Copies of the degree and academic diplomas, certificates

 

Work Visa and Permit after Graduation

A student, upon completing studies in France, must as per the immigration rules of the country, leave France. However, s/he can apply for a residence permit for France if s/he has paid employment. This is applicable for both bachelor’s and master’s programmes. While bachelor degree holders can stay on only if they have a work permit, the students pursuing Masters from France get an added advantage of applying for and get a temporary residence permit – APS, for a period of 24 months. During the period, you need to find a preferable job under CDI contract. At the same time, try to get the French Language Certificate for at least B2/C2 level.
